School Info

Students who sign up for FLEX Online School will join online classrooms staffed by BSD teachers and support staff. It works much like going to school in person: regular attendance is required, lessons are comprehensive, grades are given, and yes, homework is assigned. PE, lunch, and recess? Well, as you may expect, those happen at home. 

Curriculum will cover material in support of the same learning goals that students in a physical classroom encounter. However, the activities and methods for achieving those goals may be different. For example, a mix of real-time and video instruction could be paired with projects that students choose in order to learn and demonstrate their knowledge of what they’ve learned.  

Students and their families are required to support each other and their teachers in this new endeavor. Parents, guardians and even older siblings may act as learning coaches — the eyes and ears of the classroom teacher. Families will want to secure a quiet space suitable for learning. Internet access is essential. If families can't access the internet, BSD can offer support.
